The Centre for Studies on European Pharmaceutical Law (CEDEF) is an internal body of the CEFI Foundation that was established in 1994 to address the study of legal and ethical aspects of medicine at a national and European level. Over the years, CEDEF has witnessed the evolution in the field of protection and regulation of pharmaceutical and drug innovation. CEDEF’s aims include carrying out studies and research, organising seminars, and participating in proposed legislative changes on technical/legal aspects of medicine, among others. It has been organised through an Academic Advisory Board and collaboration agreements with Universities and the government.

To carry out its activities, it collaborates through reciprocal agreements with the Ministry of Health, the Spanish Patent and Trade Mark Office, and universities including Universidad de Barcelona, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Universidad de Alcalá, Universidad Francisco de Vitoria, Universidad de Granada and Université Victor Segalen Bordeaux.
The Industrial Law and Ethics Institute (IDEI) is an internal body of the CEFI Foundation. It was established in 1996 with a clear aim within the field of technological research and development: protecting it through industrial property. Its slogan is ‘Innovation, law, and society’.
Its mission is to ensure the legal protection of research, especially in the field of industrial property and related laws: intellectual property, competition law and advertising law.
Its aims are to promote the most advanced industrial law, to press for its application and dissemination and to promote industrial law education.
It meets its aims by carrying out studies and research on Spanish, European, and international legal regulations on industrial property, and it organises courses and seminars on industrial law and ethics.
IDEI’s Board is made up of lawyers, industry members and university professors. They are all experts on areas including industrial and intellectual property, advertising, competition, and ethics.
