The European Centre for Pharmaceutical Law Studies (CEDEF) is an internal body of the CEFI Foundation, established in 1994 to address the study of legal and ethical aspects of medicinal products within a national and European context.
Over the years, CEDEF has witnessed the evolution of the protection and regulation of pharmaceutical innovation and medicinal products. Among its purposes are the preparation of studies and research, the organisation of debate forums, and participation in proposals for legislative amendments concerning the technical and legal aspects of medicinal products.
CEDEF operates through an Academic Advisory Board and cooperation agreements with universities and public authorities.
It has an Academic Advisory Board (the CEDEF Board) composed of trustees of the CEFI Foundation, lawyers, industry representatives and university professors.
For the development of its activities, CEDEF works in cooperation—through reciprocal collaboration agreements—with the following universities: the University of Barcelona, the Autonomous University of Madrid, the University of Alcalá, Francisco de Vitoria University, the University of Granada and Victor Segalen Bordeaux University, as well as with the Ministry of Health and the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office.
The Institute of Industrial Law and Ethics (IDEI) is an internal body of the CEFI Foundation, established in 1996 with a clear focus on the field of research and technological development: their protection through industrial property. Its guiding principle is “Innovation, Law and Society”.
Its mission is to safeguard the legal protection of research, particularly in the field of industrial property and related rights, including intellectual property, competition law and advertising law.
Its aims include promoting the most advanced industrial law, encouraging its application and dissemination, and fostering training in industrial law.
IDEI fulfils these aims through the preparation of studies and research on national, European and international legislation on industrial property, and by organising courses and debate seminars on industrial law and ethics.
The IDEI Editorial Board is composed of lawyers, industry representatives and university professors, all of whom are experts in the fields of industrial property, intellectual property, advertising, competition law and ethics.
